Candle Care 101
Follow these steps to make the most of your beautiful candles
TRIM YOUR WICKS
Always trim your wicks to ¼ inch before lighting. If you’ve burned your candle for a long period, carbon will build up at the top of the wick creating a “mushroom” shape. Lighting this can lead a wick to crackle and pop and release soot. Cutting the wick before burning will allow for a clean lighting experience and will extend the burn time of your candle collection..
BURN FOR 2-3 HOURS THE FIRST TIME YOU LIGHT YOUR CANDLE
If you burn a candle for too little of time, especially the first time, wax will accumulate on the side of the container creating that annoying tunneling effect (you end up wasting your candle). Wax has a memory, so you want to burn the candle so the melted wax spreads all the way out to the edge of the container. That way, when you burn your candle the next time, it will remember to melt all the way to the sides.
SNUFF YOUR CANDLE
Don’t blow out your candles. Blowing out your candles can cause wax to spray onto your face and smoke to fill the room. Doing so can also bury the wick in the wax making it hard for you to light your candle the next time. Use a candle snuffer or cover your candle with the lid to put the candle out.
